Alaphilippe wins World Championship Road Race
What an incredible weekend at the 2020 UCI World Championships in Imola, Italy for Specialized riders. An emotional Julian Alaphilippe rode to victory today on his Tarmac SL7 after six and a half hours of outstanding racing. This is the first rainbow jersey for the Frenchman and a special one as he marked it a dream for his career.
Fresh off of the Tour de France, a week of rest was all Alaphilippe needed to show up strong in Italy to claim the first French World Championship victory in 23 years. He attacked with 12km to go to keep a strong gap and take the solo win across the finish line. To prepare for potentially rainy weather, Julian chose his winning combo of Roval CLX50s with Tubular tires to endure an undoubtedly challenging course.
After van der Breggen's World Championship win yesterday and Alaphillipe's today, Tarmac SL7 has added the two rainbow jerseys to an already outstanding record since the bikes release in July - time and time again proving to be One Bike to Rule Them All.
